William (River) Bradley, founder of Southern Fern & Flora, is dedicated to advancing sustainable pest management practices that benefit both gardens and the environment. Driven by a commitment to eco-friendly solutions, River established the company to provide gardeners and homeowners with sustainable choices that work in harmony with the natural ecosystem. His mission is to encourage native planting and foster environmentally conscious landscapes that thrive with minimal impact on surrounding ecosystems. River's passion for sustainability and his love of the outdoors inspire the company’s mission to create a positive environmental impact—one garden at a time.
Our History
William (River) Bradley's journey into horticulture began in the lush landscapes of South Mississippi, where he developed a deep appreciation for the Sandhill Crane Wildlife Refuge and its native carnivorous plants, including Drosera, Sarracenia, Utricularia, and Butterworts. This passion for the natural world inspired him to pursue a career in horticulture, starting with roles at Flowerwood Nursery, Plant Development Services Inc, Saunders Brothers Inc, and Stokley Nursery. These experiences eventually led him to establish Southern Fern & Flora, where he combines his love for plants with a commitment to sustainability. River is currently furthering his expertise by studying horticulture at Oregon State University.
